What is RSS?

RSS (which stands for Really Simple Syndication) is a simple method to be automatically notified whenever there is new content posted to the websites you read often. Instead of having to open the site in your browser to see if something new has been added or changed, you use an RSS reader, which talks to the website periodicaly and asks the website to dowload the new content that has been posted. There are a number of RSS readers available, some that are standalone applications and some that work through your web browser. Newer web browsers such as IE 7 and Firefox, have integrated RSS readers built in.
